The showroom was not the workshop.
The samples came off one bench and the order would have come off another. Walking the line settled which floor the quoted price actually belonged to.

Here's exactly what's in the day rate before you ask.
Dongguan is a factory city, not a market city: you come here to walk the line, not to browse a hall. The clusters are specific and they sit far apart. Houjie and Dalingshan make furniture, Chang'an runs hardware, tooling and CNC work alongside electronics, Humen is garments and the Humen clothing market, Dalang is wool and knitwear, and Qingxi and Fenggang carry electronics and tooling shops.
Mandarin is the working language on most floors because the workforce is migrant, but Cantonese and Hakka are both local, and the older family-run plants switch back into Cantonese when the price talk turns serious. English is thin to non-existent the moment you leave the sales office. The city sits well under an hour by high-speed rail from both Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which is why most buyers bolt it onto a Canton Fair week or a Shenzhen electronics run rather than flying in for Dongguan alone.
Real deals in and around Dongguan, deal type, where, and what the client walked away with.

Quoted by the plant, not by the middleman.
Two of the four addresses were trading offices with a rented meeting room. Tooling cost, MOQ and lead time only got real once we were standing at the machines.
Two towns in one day, both closed out.
Humen for the clothing market, Dalang for the knitting mills, on a single route. Fabric, sizing and lead time were settled before the drive back.
Lead time: Two weeks is comfortable; book 4-6 weeks ahead if the trip also covers a Canton Fair week.
