Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you book interpreting, sourcing or translation services.
Last updated
These terms apply when you book interpreting, product sourcing or translation work with Selina Chen, trading as MyChinaInterpreter. They are written plainly so both sides know where they stand. Booking a job means you accept them. If you have your own contract or purchase terms, raise them before we confirm dates so we can agree what applies.
Quotes
Quotes are provided in writing, in US dollars, and are valid for the dates stated. A quote covers the scope we discussed. If the work changes once it is under way, more days, extra cities, a different kind of meeting, we will agree any change in price before carrying on.
Booking and deposit
A 30% deposit confirms your dates. Until the deposit is received, dates are not held and may be taken by another client. The balance is due after the work is completed. Bank transfer fees, currency conversion and any charges your own bank applies are your responsibility.
Cancellation
If you cancel, what happens to the deposit depends on the notice you give. Cancel well ahead and there is room to be flexible; cancel close to the dates, when those days can no longer be filled, and the deposit covers the held time. We will always tell you clearly where you stand at the time.
If I have to cancel, for illness or any reason on my side, you receive a full refund of anything paid and, where possible, a trusted interpreter I recommend personally so your trip is not left uncovered.
Scope of service
Interpreting, sourcing and translation are provided in good faith and to a professional standard. The job is to help you communicate accurately and get to the right people and products. The commercial decisions, which supplier to use, what price to accept, what contract to sign, remain entirely yours. We facilitate your business; we do not make it for you, and we are not a party to any deal you strike.
Liability
We will do the work carefully and to a professional standard. We are not liable for commercial losses, missed opportunities, or the conduct of suppliers, factories or third parties you choose to deal with. Where any liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the fees you have paid us for the work in question.
Governing law
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, and any dispute will be dealt with under that jurisdiction. This does not remove any consumer or statutory rights you have where you live.
